Services
Free Consultation
This consultation is an initial interview for us to get to know each other. During this consultation we will determine whether or not I am a good fit for the services you are looking for and the services I provide. This consultation can be in person or over the phone, lasting approximately 30 min to 1 hour.
24 hour Phone & Email Support
This support begins after our final prenatal visit (at approximately 37 weeks) until early postpartum.
2 - 4 Prenatal Visits
I will meet with you (and your partner) to become acquainted. We will then explore and discuss your priorities, any fears or concerns, your birth plan and how we might work best together. I also want to know your best ways of coping with pain and fatigue and how you and your partner foresee working together. I will also inform you of times when I am unavailable for labor support. To cover those times, I will arrange one or more qualified back up doulas, whom you may also meet.
As a Doula, I Do Not:
Perform any clinical tasks
I do not perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams and others. I am there to provide continuous emotional support, informational support and implement physical comfort measures.

When you are in labor.
I prefer that you call me when you think you are in labor, even if you do not need me. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone. We will discuss if I should come right then or wait for further change. I will need approximately one hour to get to you from the time you ask me to come. We will also decide where to meet -at your home, hospital or birth center. Except for extraordinary circumstances, I will remain with you throughout labor and birth. If I cannot remain with you my back up will replace me.
Make decisions for you
I will not make decisions for you. I will help you get information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there are departures from your birth plan.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
I will not speak to staff on your behalf. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak directly to the clinical staff.

After birth.
I will remain with you for one or two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
I will not project my own beliefs and opinions onto you. You will have to make all final decisions, but I am available to help you make an informed decision.
Postpartum and Baby’s First Feeding Support
I can assist with initial bonding and lactation support; consisting of skin- to-skin, the breast crawl and proper latching.
Postpartum follow-up visit
I am available to answer any questions about the birth or assist with any newborn care questions. I would also like to get together with you within a few days and weeks to see how you and your baby are doing, to review the birth and to get feedback from you about my role.
