Free Consultation

This consultation is an initial interview for us to get to know each other. During this session, we will determine whether I am a good fit for the services you are seeking and whether my offerings align with your needs. This consultation can take place in person or over the phone and lasts approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.

24-Hour Phone & Email Support

This support begins after our final prenatal visit (at approximately 37 weeks) and continues into the early postpartum period.

2 - 4 Prenatal Visits

I will meet with you (and your partner) to get acquainted. During our visits, we will explore and discuss your priorities, any fears or concerns, your birth plan, and how we can best work together. I also want to understand your preferred coping mechanisms for pain and fatigue, as well as how you and your partner envision working as a team. Additionally, I will inform you of any times when I may be unavailable for labor support. To ensure continuous care, I will arrange for one or more qualified backup doulas, whom you may also have the opportunity to meet.

When You Are in Labor

I prefer that you call me as soon as you think you are in labor, even if you do not need me immediately. I can answer questions and provide suggestions over the phone. Together, we will decide whether I should come right away or wait for further progress. Once you ask me to come, I will need approximately one hour to arrive. We will also determine where to meet—whether at your home, hospital, or birth center. Except in extraordinary circumstances, I will remain with you throughout labor and birth. If I am unable to stay, my backup doula will step in to support you.

After Birth

I will remain with you for one to two hours after birth, ensuring you are comfortable and that your family is ready for quiet bonding time.

Postpartum and Baby’s First Feeding Support

I can assist with initial bonding and lactation support, including skin-to-skin contact, the breast crawl, and proper latching techniques.

Postpartum Follow-up Visit

I am available to answer any questions about your birth experience or assist with newborn care concerns. I would also love to meet with you within a few days or weeks to check in on how you and your baby are doing, review your birth experience, and gather feedback about my role.

Postpartum

Support

I provide comprehensive newborn care, including soothing techniques, diapering, and ensuring your baby’s comfort. I also offer support with newborn feeding, whether through bottle or body feeding, to help establish a smooth and nourishing routine. Additionally, I assist with both emotional and physical recovery, ensuring you feel supported during this transition. To ease your daily responsibilities, I can help with light household tasks and meal preparation. If additional support is needed, I can provide referrals to local resources to further assist you on your postpartum journey.

Tiny Hands

As a Doula, I am not to:

Perform Any Clinical Tasks

I do not perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart monitoring, vaginal exams, or other medical procedures. My role is to provide continuous emotional and informational support while implementing physical comfort measures.

Make Decisions for You

I will not make decisions for you. Instead, I will help you access the information necessary to make informed choices. I will also remind you if there are any deviations from your birth plan.

Speak to the Staff on Your Behalf

Project My Own Beliefs onto Your Experience

I will not speak to medical staff on your behalf. However, I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest possible options, while ensuring that you or your partner communicate directly with clinical staff.

I will not impose my personal beliefs or opinions on you. While I am here to support and inform you, all final decisions are yours to make.
